What We Repair
From minor board replacements to full structural rebuilds, we handle every type of pallet damage. Our repair team averages 15+ years of experience in pallet restoration.
Board Replacement
Cracked, split, or missing deck boards are replaced with matching lumber. We ensure consistent board thickness and spacing for safe forklift entry and load distribution.
Stringer Repair
Broken or cracked stringers are reinforced with companion boards or fully replaced. Stringer integrity is critical — it bears the entire load weight.
Lead Board Repair
The outermost deck boards take the most abuse. We replace damaged lead boards and ensure they are properly nailed to prevent future splitting.
Block Replacement
For block-style pallets, damaged or crushed blocks are drilled out and replaced with new blocks of matching dimensions and wood species.
Renailing & Fastener Work
Loose nails are pulled and replaced with ring-shank or screw-shank nails for superior holding power. We also add nails where factory spec was insufficient.
Full Refurbishment
Complete teardown and rebuild for pallets that need extensive work. We disassemble, replace all compromised components, and reassemble to spec.
Our Repair
Quality Standards
A repaired pallet from Phoenix is not a compromise — it is a quality product backed by rigorous standards. Every repaired pallet must pass our multi-point inspection before it leaves our facility.
Structural Integrity
All stringers and blocks must support the pallet's rated load capacity without flex or cracking.
Board Coverage
No gaps wider than 1 inch between deck boards. Boards must be flush and properly spaced for forklift entry.
Fastener Quality
Ring-shank or screw-shank nails only. No protruding nail heads or points that could damage product or injure handlers.
Dimensional Accuracy
Repaired pallets maintain original dimensions within 1/4 inch tolerance. Critical for racking and automated systems.
Cleanliness
No excessive dirt, debris, or contamination. Pallets for food-grade applications receive additional cleaning.
Cost Savings Breakdown
Why spend $12-$18 on a new pallet when a professionally repaired one performs identically at a fraction of the cost?
Average Savings
Per pallet vs. buying new
Example: A warehouse using 500 pallets/month saves $3,000 — $5,000/month by switching from new to repaired pallets.

Common Pallet Damage Types & How We Fix Them
Our repair team encounters these damage types daily. Here is what causes each type of damage, how we identify it, and the specific repair method we use to restore full structural integrity.
Split Deck Boards
Minor — 15 min repairCaused by forklift tines striking the top deck during loading, or by heavy point loads exceeding the board's capacity. Most common at the lead board position where forklifts enter.
We remove the split board entirely and replace it with a board of matching species, thickness (typically 5/8" or 3/4"), and width. New boards are fastened with ring-shank nails for superior holding power that prevents future splitting.
Cracked Stringers
Moderate — 20-30 min repairStringers crack when pallets are dropped from height, overloaded beyond rated capacity, or struck by forklift impacts at the notch points. Stringer damage is the most structurally critical type.
For partial cracks, we apply a companion board — a reinforcing piece of matching lumber bolted or nailed alongside the cracked stringer to restore full load-bearing capacity. Fully fractured stringers are removed and replaced entirely.
Missing or Broken Lead Boards
Minor — 10 min repairThe outermost deck boards (lead boards) absorb the most impact during handling. They break from fork strikes, edge drops, and lateral impacts during conveyor transport.
We replace broken lead boards with slightly thicker stock (3/4" instead of 5/8") for increased durability at this high-impact position. Lead boards are nailed with 3 fasteners per stringer contact point instead of the standard 2.
Protruding or Loose Nails
Minor — 5-10 min repairRepeated loading cycles, vibration during transit, and humidity changes cause nails to back out over time. Protruding nails are a safety hazard and can damage products and packaging.
All loose nails are pulled and replaced with ring-shank or screw-shank nails that have 40-60% more holding power than smooth-shank nails. We also add supplemental nails at any joint showing movement.
Crushed Blocks (Block Pallets)
Moderate — 25-35 min repairBlock pallets fail when blocks are crushed by excessive weight, moisture softening, or repeated racking impacts. Common in cold storage where moisture freeze-thaw cycles weaken blocks.
Damaged blocks are drilled out and replaced with new hardwood blocks of matching dimensions (typically 3.5" x 3.5" x 3.5"). New blocks are fastened with screws for a more secure connection than original nails.
Warped or Bowed Deck
Minor to Moderate — 15-25 minExposure to rain, direct sun, or uneven loading causes boards to warp or bow. This is especially common with pallets stored outdoors in Arizona's extreme heat and occasional monsoon rains.
Severely warped boards are replaced. Mildly warped boards can sometimes be flipped and renailed. We also address the root cause by recommending covered storage or rotation schedules for customers experiencing high warp rates.
Quality Assurance
After Every Repair
A repaired pallet is only as good as the inspection that follows. Every pallet that leaves our repair line passes through a rigorous 8-point quality assurance process before it is cleared for sale or return to the customer.
1. Visual Inspection
Technician examines all surfaces for cracks, splits, missing components, and contamination. Any defect triggers a return to the repair line.
2. Dimensional Verification
Length, width, and height are measured against original spec. Tolerance is +/- 1/4 inch. Pallets outside tolerance are adjusted or rejected.
3. Fastener Audit
Every nail head is checked for flush seating. Protruding nails are driven or replaced. Nail count per joint is verified against minimum spec (2-3 per contact point).
4. Load Test (Spot Check)
A random sample of 5% of every batch is placed on a test rack and loaded to rated capacity (2,500 lbs for standard GMA pallets) to verify structural integrity under load.
5. Fork Entry Test
Forklift tines are inserted into every entry point to verify clearance and alignment. Pallets that bind or catch are returned for stringer adjustment.
6. Board Spacing Check
Gaps between deck boards are measured. Maximum allowable gap is 1 inch for standard pallets. Tighter specs apply for food-grade and automated system pallets.
7. Contamination Screen
Pallets are checked for oil stains, chemical residue, mold, and odor. Contaminated pallets are segregated from food-grade and pharmaceutical inventory.
8. Grade Assignment
Passed pallets are assigned a final grade (A, B, or C) based on overall condition and sorted into graded inventory stacks for sale or customer return.
QA Pass Rate
Our repair team maintains a 97.3% first-pass QA rate — meaning 97 out of every 100 pallets pass inspection on the first attempt. The remaining 3% are sent back for additional work and re-inspected.

This warranty covers all repair types including board replacements, stringer reinforcement, and full refurbishment.
No-Questions-Asked Returns
If a repaired pallet does not meet your quality expectations for any reason within 30 days of delivery, return it to us and we will repair it again or replace it with an equivalent unit — free of charge. We do not argue about whether the damage was pre-existing or new. If you are not satisfied, we make it right.
Batch Guarantee
For large repair orders (200+ pallets), if more than 3% of the batch fails QA at your facility upon receipt, we will re-inspect and re-repair the entire batch at no additional cost. We also dispatch a quality auditor to investigate the root cause and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence on future orders.
Extended Warranty Available
Corporate partnership customers can extend the structural warranty to 180 days at no additional cost. Ask about our partnership program when requesting your repair quote.
